My lion head study, Majestic Pride, captures the essence of this great animal of the wild. In regal stillness he guards his mate and cubs, alert to any sound or scent of danger or prey in the miles of deep grasses surrounding them. In the acrylic version, I created an illusion whereby, when the piece is viewed from the back, the lion appears to come to life and follow the movement of the viewer. This effect highlights the lion’s mystical, hypnotic power.<\/p>\n
