"In my Doberman sculptures I wanted to portray the elegance, intensity and nobility of this breed. In Look of the Eagles (head study), the facial expression was especially rewarding to render, as the Doberman is a very emotional creature with an ever-present sense of loyalty. I try to work from my heart and sculpt things I have a passion for and believe in. I work very hard to have the final product be as close as possible to the ideal physical and inner qualities of the animal."

“Two Terriers was a commissioned work capturing two ‘best buddies.’ It represents a Cairn and a Norfork Terrier. When viewed from the polished back side of this sculpture, the dogs appear to move slightly and follow the viewer.”

“In the Classic Maltese I believe I have captured the haughty and playful nature of this elegant breed. One of the challenges in sculpting this life-size Maltese work was to create the impression of there being a body under the silky coat.”

The Noble One is a life-size bronze head-study capturing the classic Saluki. Based on some of the earliest photos of Salukis to the present, this bronze captures an alert dog with a far-seeing expression, as if looking at something in the distance or perhaps in memory of its ancient past.

It was a great honor and pleasure to capture the spirit of the wonderful Smoky and the essence of the Yorkie. The Smoky life-size monument was installed on Veteran’s Day of 2005, at the Cleveland Metroparks, to honor WWII’s tiniest hero and all war dogs. Smoky was the first therapy dog on record. The Smoky story and my work was also featured on national TV on the Westminster Kennel Club Show in February 2008.

“In Affinity I sought to display the most unique and special qualities of the fine art acrylic medium as well as the mysterious and ethereal nature of the Afghan hound. I also wanted to capture the interplay between male and female, contrasting negative with positive images and showing realism and abstraction at the same time. This award-winning sculpture demonstrates the most dramatic, sophisticated use of the medium.”
