“Innocence (Foal and Girl) – the first life-size work in my equine collection – is a two-sculpture bronze capturing beauty, innocence, and the love between a one-week-old foal and a young girl. The foal and the child embody purity of spirit and the promise of the future. Like my other sculptures, Innocence explores an aspect of love and spirit – this time representing the special connection between human being and animal. My most challenging to date, this two-sculpture work is of the highest quality, showing much detail, expression and emotion.”

“Innocence (Foal) is the first life-size work in my equine collection, embodying purity of spirit and the promise of the future. In Innocence (Foal and Girl), a two-sculpture pairing, the foal together with a life-size sculpture of a young girl captures beauty, innocence, and the love between two young beings – one animal, one human. My most challenging to date, these two bronzes are of the highest quality, showing much detail, expression and emotion.”

“Arabian Heart (Mare and Stallion) expresses the love between the mare and the stallion as they embrace one another, the arc of their necks and heads forming an abstract heart. Each horse contains its own nature – the strength of the stallion and the serenity of the mare. This sculpture is available either as the pair or as the individual mare or stallion. Arabian Heart was inspired by the beauty of the mare and the stallion: It is about love in the larger sense of the word – Arabians are the vehicle.”

"It [fine art acrylic] just took my breath away, because of the way the medium plays with the light, and its endless possibilities. I think the medium of fine art acrylic is a very integral part of who I am as an artist right now. Emerging Spirit portrays an Arabian horse, powerful in body and spirit, emerging from the earth to transcend the elements and boldly claim its destiny and independence."

"Soaring Spirit captures a Hunter/Jumper reaching toward the highest point of its jump. Expressing the graceful motion and keen focus of these powerful horses, bred for their athleticism and jumping abilities, the work conveys the Hunter/Jumper's tremendous attention to task as it navigates the course.

"From the Heart (Mare and Foal) portrays the very special bond and love between the mare and her foal. Looking from the strong equine profile into this translucent fine art acrylic sculpture, one sees the mare's fragile and spirited foal appearing very close to her heart. The rare qualities of the fine art acrylic medium are perfect for making the emotional and artistic statement of this piece - the foal, appearing to move inside when the sculpture is viewed from all angles, seems truly embodied and 'alive' inside the mare."

“There is a certain sparkle to the Arabians sculpted in Susan Bahary’s fine art acrylic sculptures, noticeable in the way the light catches and resonates through the luminous pieces as shown in From the Heart (Foal)” - Equine Images Magazine, Oct/Nov 1995.
In From the Heart (Foal), the foal has evolved beyond its mother and is captured by itself – new and wide-eyed to the world, still carrying with it the heart and essence of its mother’s love, as seen in the abstract heart shape surrounding the foal. The piece appears alive with the foal’s youthful energy as one walks past and the foal seemingly turns to follow.”

Bronze sculptures have weathered centuries in the out-of-doors. “In this installation, the foal appears to pause before stepping into a meadow, attentive to the sound of rustling tree leaves around her. In my sculptures I attempt to capture the essence of my subject in a moment of heightened alertness.” Innocence (Foal), can also be combined with a water feature, whether indoors or outdoors, to magical effect. "Pure Heart is the driving force that moves the thoroughbred to victory. It is the heart of the racehorse, evident in all of the great ones - past, present and future."
