It is an honor to have created a commissioned half life-size bronze memorial honoring a lead dog handler for the Navy SEAL Team Six, John Douangdara and his war dog, a Belgian Malinois named Bart, who died with 29 other service members when their CH-47 Chinook helicopter was shot down in Afghanistan. The memorial is installed in the Siouxland Freedom Park in South Sioux City, Nebraska, which also features a half life-size replica of the Vietnam Wall and will include other half life-size replicas of monuments on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. The work was commissioned by John’s family is located at the John Douangdara Memorial War Dog Park honoring the Military Working Dog teams, part of the Siouxland Freedom Park Project honoring past, present and future veterans. The unveiling took place Memorial Day, May 27, 2013. Thank you John and Bart for your courage, service and sacrifice to keep the rest of us safe and free.
